Coding Playground for Kids 8 -12
Coding Playground for Kids will run once a week for 12 weeks at MCC.
In this course, children will discover the world of coding and physical computing by using Circuit Playground. They will learn the basics of coding and physical computing. In addition, they will be able to explore, play and interact with LEDs, buttons and variety of sensors. Moreover, they will play and interact with a variety of inputs (motion, and sounds), light animations and more. Toward the end of the course, children will start working on their own creative physical computing projects, that reflect their learning, creative choices and personal interests. For example, creative projects might be a clap light, or a night light or a music box or any other project imagined by young participants.
By joining coding playground course, children will accomplish many technical and social learning goals:
Technical goals:
- Learn the components of Circuits Playground
- Sensors
- LEDs
- Temperature sensors
- Speakers
- Physical computing project
Social goals:
- Creative self- expression through making and creating.
- Working within team (communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, negotiation)
- Making friends and have fun with a group of peers
Who can register:
- Any child with no background in coding, circuits and programming. In this group, children will learn coding with blocks.
- Any child with basic knowledge in coding with blocks such as scratch.
